It’s not even Halloween, but we’re already preparing for a festive holiday season. There will be lights, painted buoys, and there will be singing! Although some of the details are still being finalized, we’ve pulled together five events you should plan for that will get you into the holiday spirit.

Annual Sale in the Borough
Mark your calendars for the Annual Sale in the Borough - Saturday, October 16th and Sunday, October 17th. For one weekend only, take advantage of special offers and free gifts from Stonington Borough shops and restaurants. Stonington Children’s Buoy Workshops
In partnership with the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce
If you haven’t heard, there’s something exciting in the works for the town docks! There’s a 35’ lobster trap tree going up for the holidays that will be adorned with buoys decorated by talented local artists, and 40 have been set aside for children who live in Stonington! Children in grades 1-12 will have the opportunity to decorate their own buoys at one of two workshops. Both are free but are first-come, first-serve events so register today!

Small Business Saturday in Stonington Borough
The merchants and restaurants in Stonington Borough are making plans for a beautiful holiday season. Pop in for lunch (be sure to make reservations) and shopping on Small Business Saturday before the Lobster Trap Tree Lighting at the docks (see below). Spend the day in the Borough and conquer your gift list. Support our small businesses by shopping locally. Stonington Lobster Trap Tree Lighting
At the Stonington Town Docks
1 High Street, Stonington
Join the celebration as the Town of Stonington unveils its first ever Lobster Trap Tree. This awe-inspiring spectacle combines the talents of professional artists and local children with hundreds of lobster traps and thousands of colorful lights! This event is free and open to the public.

Annual Stonington Village Stroll & Borough A-Glow
Starts at the Stonington Free Library on Wadawanuck Square
Every year, on the first Friday evening in December, the Stonington Village Improvement Association (SVIA) sponsors a tree lighting ceremony in Wadawanuck Square that includes a community carol sing and a special visit by Santa. Everyone is welcome to join in!
Immediately following the lighting of the tree is the annual holiday stroll down Water Street, which will be closed from High Street to Cannon Square. Merchants are open late and welcome visitors, competing for best-dressed window in the annual Borough A-Glow contest.
